D. Karthik (2012-13)

S/o Dandapani - Rajeswari, Occupation: Agriculture

After failing in my 10th board examinations, I took to roaming the town with my friends. Despite the brave-face attitude, I really feared for my future. Joining this college was a watershed moment in my life. The lessons imparted in the college helped me turn over. I followed the words of my mentors: the Principal and the Director, in word and spirit and found myself changing for good. Now I can say with certainty that I am a social person. The employment opportunity that they create for us that really is the crown of their effort. Now I work as mechanic earning Rs 4,000 pm. Going forward I shall learn the trade and enhance my career and life. I will support my College with whatever monetary and other help necessary and possible.

K Rajesh (2012-13)

S/o Kanniyappan - Vijaya, Occupation: Daily wages labourer

I heard about this college from my brother. I passed my 12th standard examinations. But I couldn’t afford engineering and joined this college. I am a bad-tempered person. My College’s yoga and life skill lessons have helped me put my life in order. The words and deeds of the Principal and the Director resonate deeply with the chord of love in the heart of students. The cultural events in the college never failed to delight me. My dream project is to build a house of my own and take care of my family. And in due course, lend a helping hand to this project.

R Dinkaran (2013-14)

S/o K Ramakrishnan - Sumathi, Occupation: Agriculture

My uncle informed me about this college. I was a rather timid person before joining the college and hardly a good student. The sound moral support and physical regime followed in the institution deeply impacted me. The Principal and the Director acted as catalyst of change in our inner lives. The levels of my self-esteem and confidence have soared. And everything I know about automobiles I owe to my trainers, who trained me with a lot of patience. In future I shall shine as the leading mechanic in Pondicherry.

N Dinkaran (2012-13)

S/o Narayansaamy - Gandhimathi, Occupation: Daily wages labourer

I learnt about SVRCC through my friends. Failing in 10th standard was a big blow to my self-esteem. I began to fear a great deal for my future. All that changed when I stepped into SVRCC. The loving kindness of my Director and Principal realigned the stars that ruled my life for good. Now I can say that I am changed person, physically, mentally and socially. The library is one of the places in the college that is close to my heart. Where there were fears, now there are dreams. I want to know everything about automobiles and become an accomplished automobile mechanic. And one last word: I promise to help the college in whatever way possible..

Samundeswari

I don’t have a mother. My grandma raised me up; and she is also the one who put me here. The Director and the Principal Madam looked after me as if I were one of their own kids. I studied here under sponsorship because even the meagre fee was not affordable. After I completed the course I joined PIMS as a nurse and now I draw Rs 7,500 as salary each month. Now I am sure of my future, having forgotten much of the past pains. I am now married and have a child. My husband is an electrician. My in-laws treat me well and I am happy. I am fearless about what fate may throw at me. I got this confidence at the college, where I participated in many co-curricular activities and won big time. Every day I think of my time in the college. I am staying at my mother-in-law’s place and get much respect for what I do. I can say unequivocally that I owe it all to SVRCC!

Vimala (2014-15)

Diploma in Computerised Accounting & Office Management, Age: 34

I am 34 year old widowed mother of three children. My husband drank himself into an early grave and left us desolate. I had to struggle a lot to give them a life, and received little consolation or support from my father and mother-in-laws. They were very reluctant to send me to a college at my age. Even my eldest son had his misgivings about me going to a college. But I am basically a bold woman, so I took on the task of convincing each of them separately and successfully acquired their consent. I did this course in the interest of my three children, who are in their 10th, 8th and 6th standards.
I work as an attendee at an ENT clinic each evening where I draw a salary of 5500 per month. That is all I get for the maintenance of the family. So naturally, this course meant a world to me. The Director and the Principal took felt for me and decided to help me out. Of the total fee amount I paid only 1100 rupees. The rest was taken care of by my kind benefactors. They further helped with my kid’s education and gave me 3000 rupees towards it. I am grateful to them for their kindness and care.
The college taught me how to face life’s challenges and keep myself fit in the face of adversity. They taught me basic English communication, computer skills necessary for procuring a decent employment these days. My eldest son has scored 475 out of 500 (95%) in his 10th Board Exam. He is keen to pursue medicine. I am a proud mother. Thanks to SVRCC!

R.Santoshkumar (2014-15)

Diploma in Computerised Accounting & Office Management

I am Santoshkumar. I discontinued my education at my 8th standard due to financial constraints. My father who drives an auto in the town did not bother to teach me otherwise. In fact he welcomed my decision to quit education and to start working. But as anyone who has quit his education prematurely can tell, it is very hard to find a decent employment. So I wrote my 10th public examinations privately and passed it successfully, learnt a spot of tally. That is when I heard of SVRCC. I immediately decided to join this college when they promised me assured employment. It was a boon if it was true and I wanted to find out. As it turned out, I was not disappointed with my decision. But meanwhile I had to support my elder brother’s education as he too was struggling with life. I am deeply attached to the members of my family and cannot bear to see them suffer anything. Even if the suffering happens to be self-inflicted, I try to do what I can to allay it what resources are at my disposal.

I helped my brother get abroad for employment. But he returned, unfortunately. So I had to work to support him and I couldn’t afford to discontinue my studies once again. So in the nights I took care of an old man. It doesn’t pay much but every penny counts when you are not very educated and your family’s welfare is on the line. But the support the college extended proved invaluable to me. The life skills made me confident and I felt at ease with my personal troubles. And the stress of life, I managed with Yoga and meditation they taught at the college. I improved my accounting skills and now I am getting trained with an auditor. I hope to be employed by him as he is good man who cares much. Thanks to God and SVRCC!
